Ruth Warren will be exhibiting traditional Scrap quilts that represent a quintessential example of creative
reuse in America over the last 150 years. But what happens
to them when they are too torn and stained to use, or
perhaps started but never finished? See how Ruth Warren
uses old, tattered and unfinished scrap quilt pieces from
generations past to reuse yet again in new creations.
Ruth will also share her collection of vintage
newspaper-backed quilt blocks – small pieces of folk art
that capture history and creative reuse together. Find out
what was happening in Durham in the 1950s by reading the
back of a quilt block! OPening August 21st from 6-9 pm, come and meet the artist!
